Utah Surf WPSL is BACK for a 4th year!
UTAH COUNTY, Utah – After a standout 2023 campaign, Utah Surf now enters their fourth year within the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL).
This past summer, Utah Surf WPSL saw their program takeoff near the top of the Wasatch Division. With an overall record of 5-1-2 (W-L-T), the team saw their way to a 2nd Place finish in the division while producing 21 goals for, 9 goals against, and earning two shutouts.
“This was such a fun, memorable, and remarkable season,” said GM and head coach Brad Silvey. “We overachieved in nearly every category, and most importantly, we created a positive environment for these women to compete within. Hats off to the team, the ladies, the club, and the community for getting behind our efforts and for contributing to the success we experienced.”
Moving into the 2024 WPSL season, Brad Silvey (Technical Director for Utah Surf Soccer), will continue to serve as the Utah Surf WPSL General Manager and Co-Head Coach. Silvey holds a USSF “A” License and joined Utah Surf in the summer of 2022 after serving as the head coach at Iowa Western (JUCO, 2013 National Champions) and Illinois State University (D1, 2015 MVC Champions, NCAA Tournament).
Returning to the staff this year will be Izzy Gines (UVU Women’s Club Soccer head coach, Forte Soccer Training owner) and Kiona Silvey (UVU Women’s Club Soccer assistant coach, Utah Surf Soccer coach). Both Izzy and Kiona were on the WPSL sidelines during the 2023 season, both serving as assistant coaches. Both coaches were instrumental in the team’s success helping within recruitment, team training, and game management. For 2024, Izzy will serve as a Co-Head Coach with Kiona as the Assistant Coach and Director of Soccer Operations.
